THE LEBANESE ORDER OF PHYSICIANS
Mission statement
- To promote scientific events in Lebanon with the collaboration of the Lebanese Order of Physician, other lebanese scientific societies and international scientific societies.
- To encourage communication within the lebanese radiological community and radiologists of Lebanese origin living abroad.
- To help radiology residents integrate the radiological community and take advantage of the relations between the LSR and international societies and associations.
- To promote collaboration between radiologists and radiographers by organizing scientific meetings and by providing radiographers access to this website.
- To protect the rights of radiologist in Lebanon by close collaboration with the Lebanese Order of Physicians (LOP) and the committee on nomenclature of the LOP.
Historical Briefing
- 1956. Foundation of the LSR at the first general assembly, and election of the 1st Committee of the Lebanese Society of Radiology and Radiotherapy. First President: Dr. Nader Kaddoura; First Secretary General: Dr. Ibrahim Jebara.
- 1957. Discussion of the regulation of the radiology profession with the Lebanese authorities.
- 1958. First documented contact with the French radiology community at the request of the "Annales de Radiologie" whose first issue should be published during this year.
- 1959. First contact with the International Radiological Community and the International Society of Radiology (ISR) at the 9th International Congress of Radiology in Munich. Participation of Radiologists in the drafting of laws concerning the medical profession in Lebanon through the Order of Physicians.
- 1961. Development of a radiological nomenclature.
- 1963. Official appearance of laws governing the radiology profession in Lebanon.
- 1965. First contact with the French Society of Medical Radiology during a trip by a French delegation to Lebanon.
- 1990. Inauguration of the academic exchanges with France and the French Society of Radiology (SFR) by Prof. Francis Joffre during the "Journées de l’Hôpital Saint-Georges".
- 1999. Foundation of the Franco-Lebanese Association of Radiology (AFLR).
- 2004. Foundation and membership of the LSR at the Pan Arab Association of Radiological Societies (PAARS).
- 2007. Establishment of relations with the Euro-Lebanese College of Diagnostic and Radiological Education (CEDREL).
- 2009. Launching of the LSR website (www.lsradio.org).
- 2011. Organization of the 4th Pan Arab Congress of Radiology in Beirut (www.arc4-beirut.com).
- 2019. Renovation of LSR website.
By-Laws
The Lebanese Society of Radiology (LSR) is governed by the law on scientific societies established by the Lebanese Order of Physicians (LOP).
- Any radiologist registered in the lebanese orders of physicians of Beirut or Tripoli as a specialist in radiology may be a member of the LSR.
- An annual fee of 75 000 LBP / year is requested to support the LSR activities.
- If a member is up to date with his fees, he is considered an active member and can benefit from the following :
- Free admission to many seminars organized by the LSR with the opportunity to obtain CME credits.
- Reduced fees when registering to other scientific societies and participating in some local / international congresses and seminars.
- If a member is not up to date with his fees, he is considered eligible and can regain the benefits of active members by regularizing his financial condition.
- Registration for residents in radiology is free.
- This website is opened to active and eligible members of the LSR and to our local and international colleagues, as well as to radiographers.
